“UNHINGED”

2023 ART SHOW

During my senior year, I had the opportunity to host a small exhibition of my work at my University. I was constantly creating work outside of class and wanted to push myself to become a better artist and designer.

In the summer of 2022, I set out to create more work managing to complete over 30 of my simple collages during that time. This was a great time for experimentation as I was constantly learning and creating just for fun.

I use various mediums to create but have mostly stuck to using paper collage and acrylic paint for the majority of my traditional works. I enjoy creating with materials I have laying around the house, aluminum foil for for example has become one of my favorite ways to add some shine to my collages.

“Whispering to the Walls”

2024 (Collaboration)

I had the pleasure of collaborating with fellow alumni Arletha Greer on creating a piece for her show titled “Whispering to the Walls”.

There were lots of firsts during this project, The scale of this work brought new challenges and it was my first time playing with fabric as a collage material.

I was part of a show at Rhizome DC, it was themed around rejected artworks. My submitted piece “ I’ll Form The Head” was part of a previous application and I wanted to give it a proper chance to shine.

It was awesome to relate to other artists through our collective experiences. I am very grateful to Fid Thompson for organizing this exhibit.

Since the show happened in October I took the chance to bring my costume to the gallery opening.
