PECANDISCO

A good friend throws an awesome party once a year, I was able to help create a small poster to promote it amongst friends.

The flier was to be kept simple on purpose with the intention of having people directly ask for more information.

During the project's first stage, I consulted my friend for his vision with some initial sketches. One of my first iterations featured a very bubbly style, my friend asked for a more mature look, however. He wanted the poster to feel natural while also keeping a somewhat retro look, I received some reference images and began working on a new set of ideas.

Finalized

My Friend really liked this design and after tiling and adding a QR code we were satisfied with the final product.

The project culminated with the hanging of fliers in the surrounding neighborhood. It was really nice seeing my work out in the wild and the fliers served multiple purposes: They provided a sense of legitimacy and formalization to the event, served as a talking point, and helped guide party-goers from the metro stop to the party’s location.

Bonus

Although my friend was satisfied with the final product, I personally wanted to play with the design further. I created something for my own enjoyment. This version of the poster is much more vibrant and features scribbles. I used one of the many images provided by my friend to set as a background.
